The latest version of the platform introduces a number of technologies which work together to create a new, greatly simplified programming model: EJB 3.0, the Java Persistence API 1.0, JAX-WS 2.0 and JavaServer Faces 1.2. In this talk, we'll show how to build "new style" applications for the Java EE 5 platform from the ground up, leveraging the latest technologies and tools. Scripting in the Java PlatformScripting is one of the most exciting topics in programming these days. Languages like Javascript, Ruby, Python and others have soared in popularity in recent years, each bringing a fresh, different perspective to the activity of programming. Developers can take advantage of the dynamic nature of scripting languages to bind components together more easily and with fewer lines of code, resulting in higher productivity. Several ongoing initiatives are aimed at making scripting languages an integral part of the Java platform, putting them on a par with the Java programming language. In this talk, we'll review the state of scripting in the Java platform and show how scripting languages can find a place in a Java developer's toolbox.
