How to Get to Keystone Resort
Most people will prefer to fly directly to Denver International Airport,
which has direct service to and from most cities in the United States. Another option
is to fly to Vail; it is a much smaller airport with fewer connections,
but it is closer to Keystone. The following instructions apply specifically
to Denver International Airport (DIA). If you decide to use the Vail airport,
you should ask your travel agent for more details.
Once You Arrive in Denver
Travel between Denver International Airport and Keystone
Resort is simple ... and simply breathtaking. Denver is known as "the mile-high
city" because of its elevation of 5,280 feet (1,609 meters), or exactly
one mile. But Denver is actually on a high plain - the famous Colorado
Rocky mountains begin just west of Denver. You will be driving into those
mountains, into some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. We recommend
that you try to make this leg of your journey during daylight hours so
that you don't miss anything! (Watch for the buffalo herd at the Gennessee
Exit.)
Although you can rent a car at DIA and make this drive
yourself, we recommend against it. You will not need a car at the conference
itself; Keystone has a free shuttle bus from all of its lodging areas to
the Conference Center, and in any case it is only a very brief walk from
most of those lodging areas to the Conference Center. The Summit County
Stage provides free transportation among the towns of Keystone, Dillon,
Frisco, Silverthorne, Breckenridge, and Copper Mountain. Especially if
you have never been to Colorado before, we recommend that you take the
shuttle van so that you can enjoy the trip and the amazing views while
someone else worries about the driving.
Via Shuttle Van: When you
book your accommodations at Keystone
Resort , tell them that you will also require transportation from
Denver International Airport via shuttle; the room reservations clerk
can also make a reservation for the shuttle van for you. You can also
ask your travel agent to make the shuttle van reservation for you when
you book your flight to Denver.
Driving: Check these maps which give a
good major-highway view of Colorado. Travel west on Interstate 70 from
Denver International Airport for 90 miles (145 kilometers). Take Exit 205
South at the Dillon/Silverthorne exit and follow the signs to Keystone
Resort. Approximately six miles (9.7 kilometers) from the exit you will
come to a traffic light, where you will see a building on the right with
a large sign on it that says "Keystone Condominium Check-In;" that is the
first of two places where you may check in. If you miss that first one,
the main Keystone Village is about a half-mile further on the same road,
and you can check in there.
