Joseph Rank Joule Software, Inc.DSML: XML Meets LDAP Directory Services Markup Language (DSML) is an OASIS recommended standard to describe directory operations and schema using XML. Adopting a standard syntax to represent directory data in XML effectively extends the reach of directory services. In this session, we'll look at the aims of the DSML v1 and v2 specifications, the SOAP request/response binding, the file binding, the representations of directory operations and schema, and sequential and parallel processing requests. We will walk through some sample code that generates DSML, and discuss support for DSML among the major directory service vendors. This session will include introductory-level coverage of basic directory concepts such as schema elements and directory operations. JCE: Data Encryption and Decryption in Java The Java Cryptography Extension (JCE) API has been integrated into the J2SDK 1.4, making data encryption conveniently more available as it becomes increasingly necessary in today's enterprise computing environment. In this presentation, we will address the fundamentals of data encryption, cover the core concepts of the JCE and Java Cryptography Architecture, and look at some sample code that illustrates basic encryption and decryption functionality using the JCE. Specific topics will include symmetric ciphers, digital signatures, key generation, the Cipher and cipher stream classes, secret keys, sealed objects, and message authentication codes. You do not need prior knowledge of cryptographic concepts to attend this session.
